Standard On/Off grid inverters cannot feedback solar or battery power to the grid, when charging the battery from grid, all loads and charging power will be supplied from Grid (Solar can also charge battery at same time) Example, no solar, House load is 5kw, battery is low, Grid will supply the 5kw load as well as the extra power to charge the battery at the same time.
These inverters mostly require a battery to operate, unless specified
